Monsters in Summer Contest (OVER)

Hello Deviants!  

In celebration of Summer being just around the corner, I have decided to run a contest!   This will be my first time running a contest, so hopefully it's good, professional, and I learn a few things about running one  .

Just as the title implies, for this contest I want you to draw monsters.  Monsters that are celebrating summer by either hanging out at the beach, eating at a picnic, terrorizing humans just for the fun of it (in a summer like way), anything that has to do with Summer that monsters can do, just like us humans!

But, what monsters do you draw?   Usually, when most people think of monsters, they only think of a few famous and general monsters, like vampires   or werewolves :bademoticon: .  Now, I don't want ten people doing the same type of monster.  That makes it boring (no offense).  I want rare, not well known monsters.  So, here's what will happen.  I will give each individual person choices of what monsters they can use.  I will do this in an organized manner, so here's what will happen;

I have a huge book filled with millions, and I mean millions (ok, so maybe just thousands, but that's still a lot), of different types of monsters.  For those of you who watch me, you've probably heard about this book, 'The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures'.  I just love the book so much!  In this book, there are 682 pages, but page numbers 5 to 645 actually talk about monsters (the rest of the pages are just introductions and epilogues and stuff like that).  If you want to participate in the contest, you must comment on this page mentioning 3 page numbers between 5-645.  After you give me those numbers, I will pick a monster from that page, giving you 3 monsters to choose from.  I'll tell you what the monster is, give you a link to what it is, and you can choose which one of those monsters you want to draw.  You can do either 1 of those monsters, 2 of those monsters, or you can do all 3!  However, if you absolute hate all the monsters I picked, don't be afraid to tell me.  Just give me new page numbers and I will give you 3 new monsters.  However, I will only let you redo once.  After you get 3 new choices, you get 6 options to choose from!

Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about.
So, let's say I comment on this page saying, "I'd like to have Page 398, 45, and 212."

The comment back will say something like this;
"Page 398;

Along the Missouri River in Northern America the name of this creature alone was enough to evoke fear.  A vast and terrifying monster, covered with red fur, it had an enormous head with a single eye and a horn protruding from its forehead.  Its tail was long and flat like that of a beaver, but with sharp projections along its upper edge.  It moved with incredible speed through the water, creating a wave in front of it and leaving a shimmering iridescence behind.  At the beginning of Spring, its movements were said to cause cracks along the icy surface of the frozen river.

Page 45;

According to the Pare natives of Brazil, the Aunyaina was an enormous humanoid creature with tusks projecting from its face like those of a wild boar.  It hunted humans for its food and chased anyone foolish enough to wander into the forest.  Once it had caught them, it ripped them to pieces with its tusks and consumed them entirely, crunching their bones.

Page 212;

One of the strange creatures from the heraldic bestiaries of Europe.  It has the body of a fish with the head and feet of a falcon and the ears of a dog."

Now, when I get those three monsters and don't like them, I will just comment back saying I don't like them.  So, let's say that happens and I get three more monsters to choose from with new descriptions (and I don't think I need to put descriptions of them for this example);

Liar Bhean

Jaculus

Cuelebre

Now, that would give you 6 monsters to choose from.  Which means, I can choose any of those 6 monsters.  I could do Liar Bhean, Mi-Nu-Wa-Tu, or Falcon-Fish, or Jaculus, Cuelebre, Aunyaina, and so on.  I hope that way of organizing makes since.  You can only draw 3 of those monsters though, even if you have 6 options.  I don't believe anyone has tried it this way before, so let's see how it plays out.

-Draw 1, 2, or 3 of your chosen monsters to draw, no other monsters.

-Nothing inappropriate.  Keep this a G rated contest.  Hint hint, if it needs a mature content label, you're doing something wrong.

-Must have something to do with summer.  I know not all of you are near summer at this time, but this is a summer contest.

-Please use at least one of the monsters I give you and please comment on this page!  If you draw a picture without getting a monster from me, I cannot accept it.

-Choose from pages 5-645.  Don't be weird and purposely pick a number that isn't between those.

-You can choose the same page as someone else, but you will get a different monster from that page, so don't try to get the same monster.

-Get your picture done on time.  No entries will be allowed after the due date, even if I love you.

-Only one picture per Deviant.

-Have fun! (Most important rule ever XD)

As for judges, I will not be one of them.  You may find that weird, but hey, I like all you guys.  You guys all have different styles, all of which are AMAZING, so I could never even DREAM of picking you guys apart!  But, I will not be having any friends on deviantArt help either (sorry, I just don't want anyone picking favorites  ).  So, you may be asking who the judges are.  For judging, I will be asking anyone and everyone I know in real life.  I will be putting your guy's pictures in a chart like this; www.rff.com/tournament-bracket… , and that's how the judging process will be organized.

2nd Place; 1 month Premium Memebership + 50 points + Free Picture drawn by me + Watch (if I haven't already) + Llama (if I haven't already)

3rd Place; 30 points + Free Picture Drawn by me + Watch (if I haven't already) + Llama (if I haven't already)

All other contestants will get a free Llama (if I haven't already), a Watch (if I haven't already), and 5 point.

Tell your friends, your siblings, your watchers, everyone  !!  If I don't get a lot of entries after 2 months, I may consider prolonging the contest, but it isn't likely.
